Basketball Recap: Imperial Find Success

Imperial hadn't done well against Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Imperial Tigers walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Central Spartans. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was David Lopez, who posted eight points and four steals. With that strong performance, Lopez is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. James Tovar was another key player, putting up nine points.

Imperial's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-10. As for Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Imperial will face off against Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will take on Vincent Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
