Football Game Preview: East Newton Patriots vs. Seneca Indians

East Newton is 2-8 against Seneca since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Patriots will head out to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

East Newton took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Aurora with a sharp 47-21 win. The Patriots' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Caden Youngblood, who threw for 245 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also caught one touchdown. What's more, he posted five receiving yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Ethan Bales was in the mix as well, providing East Newton with two scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East Newton's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kenny Barratt and Aidan Wolfe, who racked up four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Seneca put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past McDonald County with points to spare, taking the game 35-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Mustangs are ranked 60th).

East Newton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Seneca, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

East Newton took a serious blow against Seneca in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 63-21. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
