The Goleman Gators will face off against the Ferguson Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Goleman took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Westland Hialeah get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Adrian Santos looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Goleman got a massive performance out of Daikel Nodal, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Nodal also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Goleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .867. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ferguson and Coral Gables meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Ferguson skirted past Coral Gables 4-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Alejandro Suarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ferguson's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alejandro Rosales, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Ferguson's win bumped their record up to 2-3-1. As for Goleman, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Goleman was able to grind out a solid win over Ferguson in their previous meeting back in April of 2017, winning 9-4. Will Goleman repeat their success, or does Ferguson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
