Basketball Preview: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners
Pinecrest Academy Cadence has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Thursday, Pinecrest Academy Cadence was beaten by the Pioneers 76-37. Pinecrest Academy Cadence was down 64-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Pinecrest Academy Cadence got a solid performance out of Elijah Engfer, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 13th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 78-30 loss at the hands of Desert Oasis. While losing is never fun, Southeast Career Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Diamondbacks are ranked 26th).
Pinecrest Academy Cadence has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Southeast Career Tech, they dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Pinecrest Academy Cadence against the Roadrunners in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 63-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinecrest Academy Cadence since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
