Softball Recap: Berlin Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Berlin's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Rocky Hill Terriers 9-1. The Redcoats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Callie Jehning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Julia Matan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Andersen, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Berlin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Hill only managed five hits.

Berlin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Hill, they dropped their record down to 10-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Berlin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-2 victory against Maloney on the 19th. As for Rocky Hill, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-1 win against New Britain on the 19th.
