Football Preview: Hutto Hippos vs. Judson Rockets
The Hutto Hippos will square off against the Judson Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hutto will be strutting in after a victory while Judson will be coming in after a loss.
Hutto is headed out to face Judson after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Hutto breezed by San Marcos at home to the tune of 63-8 on Friday. Given the Hippos' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Rattlers are ranked 587th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Kaden Stefek and his top target Braeton Anderson. Stefek threw for 225 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes while Anderson picked up 151 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Judson had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell to Johnson 27-21.
Judson wouldn't let Johnson keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Judson can thank Jordan Dukes and Ayden Ramirez for forcing both of them. Ramirez's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making nine total tackles.
