Baseball Recap: Mount Juliet Takes a Loss

Mount Juliet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lipscomb Academy Mustangs. The Golden Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Jacob James was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. James was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tucker Griffith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Mount Juliet's loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1. As for Lipscomb Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Looking ahead, Mount Juliet will face off against Hendersonville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lipscomb Academy, they will take on Father Ryan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
