Bayside is a perfect 8-0 against Port St. Lucie since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will welcome the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, Bayside made easy work of Heritage and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
NICOLE GARCIA spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Bayside got a massive performance out of LEAH ACKER, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits ACKER has posted since back in May of 2024. HALEIGH CURRY was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Bayside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie got the win against Synergy Magnet K12 on Thursday by a conclusive 20-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.
The team relied heavily on Ava Ward, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mirelis Benito, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Bayside's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Port St. Lucie, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bayside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Port St. Lucie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bayside took their win against Port St. Lucie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
