Basketball Preview: Science Hill Hilltoppers vs. Unicoi County Blue Devils
The Science Hill Hilltoppers will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Unicoi County Blue Devils at 8:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Science Hill was able to grind out a solid win over the Greene Devils, taking the game 64-51.
Meanwhile, Unicoi County earned a 58-45 win over the Fighting Cyclones on Tuesday. Given Unicoi County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Fighting Cyclones are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Unicoi County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolby Jones, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Simmons, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Science Hill is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Unicoi County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-7.
Science Hill came up short against the Blue Devils in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 62-53. Can Science Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
