Recap: Roncalli Royals vs. Franklin Central Flashes
The Roncalli Royals lost against the Franklin Central Flashes back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Roncalli took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Roncalli has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Roncalli saw an underclassman step up: Joe Taylor scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Schmaltz, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Moriarty, who scored 13 points along with three steals. EJ Hazelett was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds.
Roncalli's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Franklin Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Roncalli will head out on the road to face off against Speedway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Speedway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Franklin Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southport at 6:30 p.m. Southport is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
