Preview: Providence Pioneers vs. Holy Cross Cougars

The Providence Pioneers will be home for the holidays to greet the Holy Cross Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.

Providence scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They managed a 60-56 victory over Floyd Central. Given Providence's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Floyd Central is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jeffersontown. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

The losing side was boosted by Jacob Hand, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. He scored a full 38.5% of Holy Cross' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Loftis, who scored 13 points.

Providence's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Holy Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.
