Basketball Recap: Northfield Drops Season-High Score on Madison-Grant

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northfield). They breezed by the Madison-Grant Argylls to the tune of 75-34 on Thursday. Given the Norsemen's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Argylls are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elli Baker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Baker a new career-high in assists (five). Camryn Kuhn was another key player, going 8 of 14 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Northfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Madison-Grant had strong showings from Madalee Holloway, who posted 13 points, and Grace Wood, who scored 11 points and eight rebounds.

Northfield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Madison-Grant, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Northfield has already played their next game, a 70-67 victory against Whitko on the 25th. Madison-Grant has also already played their next match (against Eastbrook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
