Softball Recap: Springboro's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Springboro came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Franklin Wildcats 4-2. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bella Breen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Bella Miller was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Kim, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Springboro's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Franklin, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springboro will host Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will welcome Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
