Baseball Recap: Urbana Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Urbana ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bethel Bees, sneaking past 2-1.

BJ Potter looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Urbana saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Donahoe, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Urbana has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Bethel, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Urbana will take on Indian Lake in a tournament on Wednesday. The Lakers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Hillclimbers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bethel, they will host Shawnee at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.73 runs per game on average), something the Bees will no doubt try to take advantage of.
