Volleyball Recap: Groton Starts off Right with Win over Hamlin

Groton took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hamlin Chargers by a score of 3-1. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Groton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18.

Groton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerica Locke, who had 25 digs and four assists. Locke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Tietz, who had ten digs and four assists.

Coming up, Groton will face off against Ipswich at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hamlin, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Brookings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
