Basketball Recap: Sterling Pritchett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakeside over Decatur

Lakeside lost against Decatur back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lakeside Vikings wound up with the same score they had in their last game (57-51), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 101st).

Lakeside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sterling Pritchett, who posted nine points and five assists. Those five assists gave Pritchett a new career-high. Nate Bennion was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Howson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Welborn, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Lakeside's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Decatur, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Lakeside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-47 defeat against Woodward Academy on the 25th. As for Decatur, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-28 victory against Arabia Mountain on the 28th.
