Soccer Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southeast Raleigh last Wednesday, Smithfield-Selma came back down to earth. The Spartans fell 4-2 to the Cleveland Rams on Wednesday. If Smithfield-Selma were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to Cleveland when the teams met back in August of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Christopher Turcios and Elijah Kennedy scored both of Smithfield-Selma's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Smithfield-Selma dropped their record down to 6-7-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cleveland, their victory ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Smithfield-Selma is set to challenge their familiar foe South Garner at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Cleveland will face off against rival Clayton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
