Baseball Recap: Fort Morgan Extends Winning Streak to Six

Fort Morgan won against Resurrection Christian on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Liberty Common Eagles 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

JJ Marquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Chisum was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Fort Morgan: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Samson Ortega, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Fort Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
