Basketball Recap: Jay Mustangs vs. Alamo Heights Mules
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Jay couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 68-67 to the Alamo Heights Mules. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mules apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2015.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jarrius Jackson Jr, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 21 points. Jackson Jr is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 13 games he's played. Zachariah Linson was another key player, shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.
William Whittingstall went supernova for Alamo Heights, going 5-for-7 en route to 23 points. Those 23 points gave Whittingstall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Elliott, who posted nine points and five boards.
Jay's loss dropped their record down to 32-3. As for Alamo Heights, they pushed their record up to 28-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Jay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alamo Heights, they will head out to square off against Ray at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Ray's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 games.
