Recap: Pine Raiders vs. Red River Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pine Raiders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on Red River with a sharp 38-16 victory. Considering Pine has won eight contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Despite the loss, Red River still got an impressive performance from Terrell Gary, who rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown. Gary was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Pine pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-8 Red River and 3-8 East Iberville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.9% over those games). As for Red River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Pine will head out on the road to face off against Avoyelles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avoyelles will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Red River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
