Basketball Recap: King's Christian Academy Comes Up Short

King's Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 100-39 loss at the hands of the Friendship Tech Prep Academy Titans. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

King's Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Kyle Kovich and Abner Milam. Kovich made all 7 shots he took racking up 16 points, while Milam went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Earl B. Edmonds, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Bumpass led the charge by putting up 37 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Bumpass' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Bumpass, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals.

King's Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King's Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against The Lab School of Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. King's Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Alexandria City at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Friendship Tech Prep Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Alexandria City likes a good challenge.
