Airport posted their closest win since May 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Dreher Blue Devils. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won five in a row.
Addie Maynor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Maynor was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Avery Ingram was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abigail Gartman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Airport hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dreher struck out seven times.
Airport's record is now 8-3. As for Dreher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Looking ahead, Airport will head out to challenge North Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Airport's pitchers better be ready for this one: North Augusta has averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Dreher, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-5 victory against Ridge View on the 26th.
