Softball Recap: Mitchell Now 13-3 over Last 16 Games

It's playoff time, and Mitchell had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Largo Packers 10-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor Tucker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Whitaker, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Hencz, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mitchell has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Largo, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6.

Looking ahead, Mitchell will square off against East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. Largo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
