Baseball Recap: Union Pines Comes Up Short

If Union Pines was riding high fresh off their 19-2 takedown of St. Pauls last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Union Pines Vikings fell 5-2 to the Gray's Creek Bears on Friday. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

David Park made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Lyczkowski, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gray's Creek, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.

Looking ahead, Union Pines will be playing at home against Lee County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gray's Creek, they will face off against North Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
