Soccer Game Preview: Lehigh vs. Gateway

The Lehigh Lightning are taking a road trip to face off against the Gateway Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Lehigh took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-2 win over East Lee County. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lightning as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

They hit East Lee County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anthony Berrios (2), Lens Dorlys, and Robert Cocom.

Meanwhile, Gateway was able to grind out a solid win over Ida Baker on Tuesday, taking the game 5-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Lehigh's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Gateway, their win bumped their record up to 8-3-3.

Lehigh came up short against Gateway in their previous meeting back in January, falling 4-2. Can Lehigh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
