Recap: Lake City Trojans vs. Pine River Area Bucks
The Lake City Trojans lost against the Pine River Area Bucks back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lake City's tough 70-50 defeat to Pine River Area might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Lake City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Pine River Area is ranked 89th).
Leading Pine River Area to victory were Mason Gugle and Trevor Holmquist. Gugle scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Holmquist scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Dean, who scored ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Lake City and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Pine River Area, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Lake City will head out on the road to face off against Beaverton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaverton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Pine River Area will be home for the holidays to greet Mancelona at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mancelona will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
