Basketball Recap: GV Christian Comes Up Short

GV Christian lost against Needles last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The GV Christian Guardians took a blow against the Needles Mustangs, falling 67-21. The Guardians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.

Needles' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Harvey, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Harvey is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gianna Collier, who posted 15 points along with six boards and five assists.

GV Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season. As for Needles, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, GV Christian will take on Lake Mead Christian Academy at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Mead Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so GV Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. Needles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
