Volleyball Recap: Gering Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Gering had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Sidney Red Raiders. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory last Saturday.

Gering was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10.

Cara Schlothauer was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 12 digs and four assists. Those four assists gave her a new career-high. Ashlee Swan also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Gering's win bumped their record up to 26-7. As for Sidney, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season.

Gering has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Scottsbluff on the 23rd. As for Sidney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Pius X on the 30th.
