Baseball Recap: Von Steuben Takes a Loss

Von Steuben lost against Taft back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6.

Axel Rivera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Von Steuben: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Matteo Banuelos, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Von Steuben's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-6-2. As for Taft, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Taft will face off against Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Von Steuben will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' contest: after the Eagles faces off against the Ravens, they'll take on Von Steuben again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
