Wingate gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bosque Bobcats with a sharp 8-2 victory. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 16-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

This is the second loss in a row for Bosque and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Wingate will be taking part in a tournament against Northwest at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bosque, they will take on New Mexico Military Institute at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. New Mexico Military Institute's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Bosque's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
