Basketball Recap: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. South Fayette Lions
After flying high against the West Allegheny Indians last Tuesday, the Mars Fightin' Planets came back down to earth. Mars took a 52-34 bruising from the Lions on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
Mars' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Wilson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Austin Campbell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Mars has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for South Fayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Mars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chartiers Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for South Fayette, they will head out on the road to face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
