Preview: Meridian Lions vs. Providence Prep Rams
The Meridian Lions will head out on the road to take on the Providence Prep Rams at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Meridian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, Meridian came up short against Harmony Science Academy and fell 37-30.
Meanwhile, Providence Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Methodist Children's Home 57-16 on the road. That looming 57-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Providence Prep yet this season.
It was another big night for Lilly Hodge, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Alice Illian was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Meridian's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Providence Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Meridian took a serious blow against Providence Prep when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 43-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hodge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
