Baseball Recap: Rancho Verde Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rancho Verde entered their tilt with Vista del Lago on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 9-5. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Markus Villalvazo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Cabral, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Gabe Flores also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Rancho Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista del Lago struck out ten times.

Rancho Verde's record is now 8-5. As for Vista del Lago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho Verde will venture away from home to take on Canyon Springs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vista del Lago, they will head out to square off against Redlands East Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
