Baseball Recap: Truckee Extends Winning Streak to Three

Truckee waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Wooster Colts. Considering the Wolverines have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kevin Cabrera made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. Cabrera was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Truckee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Wicks, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Arata was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Truckee's record is now 11-6. As for Wooster, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Truckee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against South Tahoe on the 11th. As for Wooster, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-2 win against Sparks on the 10th.
