Basketball Recap: William Penn's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

William Penn waltzed into their contest on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They took down the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders 73-54. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Crusaders are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

William Penn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nasir Barnes led the charge by putting up 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Smith, who posted 16 points.

Bishop McDevitt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Hammer, who went 7 of 15 to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Damir Arp, who put up 14 points and eight rebounds.

William Penn's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. As for Bishop McDevitt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

William Penn has already played their next game, a 49-44 win against Eastern York on the 7th. As for Bishop McDevitt, they will venture away from home to take on James Buchanan at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th.
