Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Holy Redeemer

Holy Redeemer's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Hanover Area Hawkeyes 14-7. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Hawkeyes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Anne Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Abby Williams was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Pecuch, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Holy Redeemer's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Hanover Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Holy Redeemer and Hanover Area could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Royals (ranked 170th) will meet South Williamsport (ranked 11th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hanover Area will face off against Lake-Lehman at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (495 vs. 44).
