Basketball Recap: Greg Fourte's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thornton over Bloom

Thornton was the 69-52 winner over Bloom when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Thornton Wildcats fell 58-49 to the Bloom Blazing Trojan on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Blazing Trojan are ranked 84th).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Greg Fourte, who posted ten points and six boards. Fourte continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jordan Maple was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Thornton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Bloom, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

Thornton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-45 win against Hillcrest on the 19th. As for Bloom, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-49 loss against Lincoln Park on the 19th.
