Soccer Game Preview: Altavista vs. West Point

The Altavista Colonels will face off against the West Point Pointers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altavista will be strutting in after a victory while West Point will be coming in after a loss.

Altavista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech a 3-0 shutout. The contest was close at halftime, but Altavista turned on the heat in the second half with two goals.

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, West Point's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 6-2 to Northampton.

Luke Bystrek wasn't going to let the Yellowjackets walk away unscathed as he scored both of West Point's goals, bringing his season total up to 32 goals.

The win (which was Altavista's third in a row) raised their record to 6-12. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2.
