Basketball Recap: Emerald Takes a Loss

Emerald lost against Westside back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Emerald Vikings were dealt a 94-5 loss at the hands of the Westside Rams. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ryonna Talbert was Emerald's leading scorer, having posted four points. Jurnee Williams held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Westside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tiana Marshall, who went 7 of 9 en route to 17 points and five steals. Marshall is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Khalia Hartwell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Emerald dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Westside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Emerald has already played their next match, a 38-29 loss against Southside on the 31st. As for Westside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-28 victory against Fountain Inn on the 31st.
