Basketball Recap: Jefferson Yellowjackets vs. Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders
The Jefferson Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Bishop Heelan Catholic at home and fell 85-31. Jefferson has not had much luck with the Crusaders recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Jefferson had strong showings from Demi Pane, who scored eight points, and Grace Strong, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Jefferson's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson and the Bulldogs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Le Mars' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Lynx at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Lincoln will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Crusaders are ranked fifth).
