Softball Recap: New Hope's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

New Hope waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Caledonia Cavaliers by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Cavaliers back in February, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Kaselyn Harcrow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeoreia Henry, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lea Kathryn Hardy, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

New Hope lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got New Hope back to even at 4-4. As for Caledonia, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, New Hope will head out on the road to square off against Choctaw County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Caledonia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nettleton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Caledonia: 3.9, Nettleton: 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
