Basketball Game Preview: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Lincolnwood Lancers

Litchfield has gone 4-0 against Lincolnwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Litchfield Purple Panthers will square off against the Lincolnwood Lancers at 9:30 a.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Thursday, Litchfield ended up a good deal behind Gillespie and lost 55-41. The Purple Panthers have struggled against the Miners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Litchfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chloe Law, who posted 14 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Jenkins, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Litchfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Lincolnwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost to New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on the road by a 48-32 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Vipers are ranked 227th).

Litchfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Lincolnwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Litchfield was able to grind out a solid win over Lincolnwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 29-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Litchfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
