Basketball Recap: Cannon County's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cannon County entered their tilt with Grundy County on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Grundy County Yellowjackets by a score of 53-40. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-42 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Grundy County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kallie Parson shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Panter, who posted seven points.

Cannon County pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Grundy County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Cannon County has already played their next game, a 55-43 win against Cascade on the 24th. As for Grundy County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-30 loss against Sequatchie County on the 24th.
