Mesa Verde gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over the Woodland Wolves. The win was some much needed relief for the Mavericks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Fred Robinson had a dynamite game for Mesa Verde, rushing for 167 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry.

Robinson wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Mesa Verde was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 335 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland only rushed for 70.

When it comes to explaining why Woodland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Diego Bautista. Despite the final result, he picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 71 yards. Bautista was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will host Cordova at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodland, they will square off against Lincoln at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
