Basketball Recap: Mcconnellsburg Picks Up 23rd Consecutive Victory

It's playoff time, and McConnellsburg had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Windber Ramblers on Thursday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Ramblers are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hoyt Glenn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. He has been hot for a while, having also posted four or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominic Jefferson, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 13 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: McConnellsburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windber only eight assists.

Windber's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Brady, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Klosky, who posted 16 points.

The victory (which was McConnellsburg's 23rd in a row) raised their record to 24-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.1 points. As for Windber, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.

McConnellsburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-39 win against North Star on the 3rd. Windber does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
