Recap: Saugerties Sawyers vs. Spackenkill Spartans
The Saugerties Sawyers can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over Spackenkill. The win was just what Saugerties needed coming off of a 62-26 loss in their prior contest.
Saugerties was led to victory by Sammie Graham and Viola Myers. Graham scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Myers scored 13 points along with four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Myers has scored all season. Natalie Tucker was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Spackenkill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marlena Delaurentis. Despite the final result, she scored eight points.
Saugerties has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Spackenkill, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Saugerties will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wallkill at 6:00 p.m. Wallkill will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Saugerties surely won't give up without a fight. As for Spackenkill, they will head out on the road to take on Ellenville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Spackenkill is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Ellenville will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
