Volleyball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Pandora-Gilboa Rockets. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Rockets when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Riverdale was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13, 25-9.

Their offense was headlined by Shayla Newfer and Carly Karcher, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Paige Courtad and her nine assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Pandora-Gilboa, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Riverdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Kenton on the 23rd. As for Pandora-Gilboa, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Ottoville on the 23rd.
