Baseball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Michigan City Wolves

The Elkhart Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Michigan City Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elkhart managed to slip by New Prairie the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions came up short against the Cougars on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Elkhart saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodey Weaver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Michigan City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 23-0 to Lake Central.

Elkhart's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Michigan City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Elkhart's way against Michigan City when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Elkhart made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
