Montgomery and Nederland squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Montgomery had to settle for second. They fell 4-0 to the Bulldogs. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Montgomery got a good showing from Hudson Brawner, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brawner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 21-11-2. As for Nederland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-6.

While Montgomery had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
