Basketball Game Preview: Elmwood Park Tigers vs. Chicago Christian Knights

Elmwood Park hasn't had much luck against Chicago Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Elmwood Park Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Chicago Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Elmwood Park was beaten by Glenbard South 57-14. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Raiders are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chicago Christian). They claimed a resounding 66-36 win over Kennedy. Chicago Christian's victory was all the more impressive since the Crusaders were averaging only 29.5 points allowed on the season.

Elmwood Park better keep an eye on Imani Frazier. She was instrumental in Chicago Christian's win, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. What's more, Frazier also racked up eight boards, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Sydney Harris was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Chicago Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

This is the second loss in a row for Elmwood Park and nudges their season record down to 4-21. As for Chicago Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Elmwood Park came up short against Chicago Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 44-40. Can Elmwood Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
